Product Description
Some pieces are just as beautiful on a quiet sideboard as they are on a carefully laid table.
This lovely R. Lalique ‘Ondes’ plate has a flowing pattern of moulded waves that curl around its smooth centre, catching the light with every turn. Designed by René Lalique in 1935, it reflects the elegance of the Art Deco years, when glassmakers brought striking new shapes and patterns into the home.
The translucent opalescent glass lends a soft glow to the ripples, giving the plate a beauty that is best appreciated in natural light. Measuring approximately 27.5 cm in diameter, it bears an etched R. Lalique signature.
It would sit beautifully on a plate stand upon a timber sideboard, with room around it to appreciate the pattern, or amongst other treasured pieces in a glass cabinet. A thoughtful gift for a Lalique collector or someone with a love of French glass and Art Deco interiors.
Each piece in our collection carries the subtle marks of time, adding to its authenticity and charm. Any notable details are thoughtfully included in the description and imagery. Should you wish to see more, we are always happy to assist.
If This Piece Could Talk...
I would tell of a 1930s sitting room, where I stood on a polished walnut sideboard beside a vase of fresh flowers. Afternoon sunlight caught my opalescent waves while the wireless played softly and tea was poured into delicate porcelain cups. Chosen with care and displayed with pride, I brought a little of René Lalique’s artistry into the everyday life of the home.
