Product Description

A fine sterling silver vesta case by John William Barrett, hallmarked Birmingham 1909. The front features an enamelled nautical flag and the name “Rawhiti,” a well-known early 20th-century yacht, along with an engraved monogram. Crafted from solid silver with an attached suspension ring, this charming piece was likely owned by a sailor or enthusiast of maritime life. Light age-related wear adds to its authenticity and appeal. Measures approximately 5cm x 4cm.

Each piece in our collection carries the subtle marks of time, adding to its authenticity and charm. Any notable details are thoughtfully included in the description and imagery. Should you wish to see more, we are always happy to assist.

If this piece could talk, it would whisper of sea spray and polished decks, of a time when gentlemen lit their pipes beneath canvas sails and long voyages stretched across open water. Engraved with the name Rawhiti, this little silver vesta case hints at stories of companionship, adventure and life at sea during another era.

Small enough to slip easily into a waistcoat pocket, pieces such as these were once carried daily — practical objects that quietly accompanied their owners through dinners, gatherings and journeys alike.

Today, it remains not only a beautifully preserved silver piece, but also a tangible reminder of a golden age of travel, tradition and personal possessions made to last a lifetime.
