Product Description

Made in London circa 1903, this refined timepiece features a solid sterling silver case with a clean rectangular form, elegant scroll handle, and bun feet. The enamel dial is detailed with classic Roman numerals, framed within a polished silver surround that enhances the clock’s understated sophistication.

The clock houses a French eight-day movement and remains in excellent working order. Fully hallmarked, it reflects the quality and craftsmanship associated with renowned silversmith William Comyns during the Edwardian period. Minor dents and light surface scratches to the sterling silver case, together with a fine hairline crack to the lower right of the dial, all consistent with age and careful use over more than a century.

Measures approximately 7.5cm in height.

As these are antique and vintage pieces, gentle signs of age are to be expected and form part of each item’s unique history and character. Any notable details are thoughtfully included in the description and imagery. Each piece carries the subtle marks of time, adding to its authenticity and charm. We invite you to contact us for further details or additional photographs should you require them prior to purchase.

If this piece could talk, it may recall quiet evenings beside a writing desk, the soft ticking marking the passing hours within an elegant Edwardian interior. Crafted by William Comyns, this carriage clock reflects a time when beautifully made objects accompanied daily life with both practicality and refinement.

Perhaps it travelled alongside its owner aboard steamships or rested within finely appointed rooms, quietly keeping time through journeys, conversations and changing generations. Compact yet sophisticated, carriage clocks such as this were designed to bring a sense of familiarity and order wherever they travelled.

Today, it remains not only a beautiful example of Edwardian craftsmanship, but also a tangible reminder of the quiet rhythm, elegance and rituals of another era.
