Full of character and vibrant colour, this delightful Lea Stein Paris "Hippo" brooch is a wonderful example of the designer's playful imagination and distinctive French craftsmanship.
Crafted in layered cellulose acetate, the brooch features a vibrant purple mosaic-effect body complemented by a bold cobalt blue snout, bright blue eyes and a softly contrasting cream mosaic muzzle. Created in Paris during the 1970s–1980s and finished with the classic heat-mounted V-shaped clasp to the reverse, a hallmark of authentic vintage Lea Stein brooches from the period. Measuring approximately 4cm wide.
