Product Description

Playful, elegant and instantly recognisable, this beautiful Lea Stein “Gomina” sleeping cat brooch showcases the designer’s iconic blend of whimsy and sophisticated French design.

Crafted in layered cellulose acetate, the brooch features a striking multi-colour harlequin pattern with soft pastel tones and geometric detailing, creating wonderful depth and movement across the curled sleeping cat form. Created in Paris during the 1970s–1980s, it reflects the bold artistic style and craftsmanship that made Lea Stein internationally collectible.

The relaxed curled pose gives the piece a charming sculptural quality, while the colourful harlequin finish adds both vibrancy and elegance. Finished with the classic heat-mounted V-shaped clasp to the reverse, a hallmark of authentic vintage Lea Stein brooches from the period.

Measuring approximately 7cm x 4.5cm.

Lea Stein brooches remain highly collectible worldwide and are admired for their craftsmanship, colour and sculptural designs, making them beautiful statement pieces for both collectors and everyday wear.

Presented in lovely vintage condition consistent with age and careful use, with any notable details shown in the photographs. If you have any questions, please let us know.

If This Piece Could Talk…
It might recall the playful elegance of a Parisian wardrobe during the 1970s, when fashion became expressive, artistic and wonderfully individual. Perhaps it was pinned to a tailored coat, silk scarf or soft knit jumper before evenings spent in lively cafés, gallery openings and candlelit dinners, its colourful harlequin finish catching the light with every movement.

With its curled sleeping form and whimsical spirit, this charming Lea Stein cat captures the bold creativity and sophistication that defined the era — remaining, even now, both playful and effortlessly stylish.
