A lovely survivor from the Art Deco era, this elegant cased set of six sterling silver demitasse spoons was made by respected Sheffield silversmith James Deakin & Sons in 1938.
Each spoon measures approximately 8.5 cm long and features the clean, understated proportions associated with late Art Deco design, with a rounded bowl and slender tapering handle. The six spoons remain together in their original fitted presentation case, lined in black and cream satin. The case shows some age-related wear, including marks and wear to the lining, consistent with its age and use.
Originally intended for serving coffee in small demitasse cups, these elegant little spoons can still be enjoyed with espresso or after-dinner coffee today, or displayed alongside a vintage coffee service. Complete cased sets also have lovely gift appeal and would make a thoughtful wedding, anniversary, engagement or housewarming gift.
