Product Description
Wrapped against the winter chill, with a handful of snowballs ready for mischief, this charming antique figurine captures a delightful moment from childhood more than a century ago.
Dating to circa 1890–1910, this Continental European majolica or barbotine pottery figure depicts a young boy wearing a fur-trimmed cap, striped scarf, blue jacket and tall brown boots. Standing beside a stone wall on a dark circular base, he holds snowballs in his hands and against his chest. The underside bears an impressed mould number, believed to be 97. The piece has been attributed to either Schramberg or Sarreguemines, although the maker remains unconfirmed. Age-related glaze crazing is present.
An unusual addition to a collection of antique European ceramics, this appealing winter scene would also make a thoughtful Christmas gift or a memorable keepsake for someone who appreciates distinctive pieces with history.
Each piece in our collection carries the subtle marks of time, adding to its authenticity and charm. Any notable details are thoughtfully included in the description and imagery. Should you wish to see more, we are always happy to assist.
