A striking statement piece for lovers of blue and white porcelain, this substantial vintage Chinese brush basin is beautifully hand painted with an intricate scrolling lotus vine design in rich cobalt blue against a crisp white ground.
Generously proportioned at approximately 27 cm in diameter and 10 cm high, and weighing approximately 2.4 kg, the basin has wonderful presence and a pleasing solidity. An artisan-brushed Yongzheng reign mark appears to the base.
Its size makes it particularly versatile for today's home — display it as a centrepiece, fill it with fruit, use it to hold decorative objects, or simply enjoy it amongst a collection of blue and white porcelain.
Please note there are tiny, shallow firing cracks to the base from manufacture. These are shown in the accompanying photographs.
