Product Description
A wonderfully unusual piece of folk-art craftsmanship, this vintage mechanical bird dispenser combines hand-carved timber construction with a clever working mechanism. Richly decorated with geometric carving and topped by a stylised bird, it captures the charm and ingenuity of mid-century novelty design.
Dating to approximately the 1940s and measuring around 21cm x 7cm, the dispenser is believed to originate from either Germany or Russia. Originally designed as a cigarette dispenser, it now makes a fascinating decorative object, collector's piece or addition to a Cabinet of Curiosities, celebrating a time when everyday items were crafted with both function and character.
Its combination of carved detail, mechanical movement and whimsical design ensures it remains a true conversation piece decades after it was made.
Each piece in our collection carries the subtle marks of time, adding to its authenticity and charm. Any notable details are thoughtfully included in the description and imagery. Should you wish to see more, we are always happy to assist.
