Product Description
A rare survival from the early days of the game. This Doulton Lambeth stoneware tumbler, dated to 1902 with a Sheffield sterling silver rim, is decorated in relief with three cricketing figures — batsman, bowler and wicket keeper — set within a stylised Arts and Crafts border.
The form and decoration are consistent with early 20th century Lambeth production, with impressed detailing and a rich glazed surface typical of Doulton’s stoneware. The applied figures show strong modelling, reflecting the period’s interest in sporting subjects.
Measuring approximately 12cm in height, the piece retains its original silver rim, hallmarked Sheffield 1902. Condition consistent with age; light wear visible to the rim and surface. An increasingly sought-after example of Doulton Lambeth’s figural work.
We endeavour to provide accurate information on all items; however, as these are antique and vintage pieces, variations and signs of age are to be expected and form part of their character. Please contact us if you would like further details or additional photos prior to purchase.
If this piece could talk, it would speak of summer afternoons, village greens, and the quiet rhythm of a game deeply woven into its time.
