Brass/copper samovar of classical form with domed lid to a pineapple finial flanked by a pair of reeded and moulded handles, cast brass acanthus circa 1780s.
Tap with ivory finail. The column swept, stepped square base standing on a ball feet.
Measures 63cm tall.
Note: Some wear and small dents due to age.
A samovar is a metal container traditionally used to heat and boil water. Although originating in Russia, the samovar is well known outside of Russia and has spread through Russian culture to other parts of Eastern Europe, as well as Western and Central and South Asia.
