Product Description

A beautiful antique malachite pressed slag glass basket vase dating to the late Victorian era, circa 1890s. Measuring approximately 7.5cm high x 12cm wide, this charming basket-form vase features a richly marbled blend of deep plum, amethyst, and milky white tones, created through the traditional slag glass technique. The piece is pressed rather than blown, with detailed moulded patterns including arched paneling, raised beading, and a delicately textured applied handle that enhances its ornate Victorian character. Slag glass is made by combining opaque and translucent molten glass during production, resulting in distinctive swirling, marble-like patterns that make each piece unique. Popular in the late 19th century, these decorative wares were prized for their jewel-like colouring and affordability compared to cut crystal.

This petite basket vase works beautifully as a display accent, ring holder, or part of a curated antique glass collection. A lovely example of Victorian pressed glass craftsmanship with strong decorative appeal and collector interest.
