Product Description

Some carvings are admired for their craftsmanship, while others are treasured for the story they tell. This finely hand-carved antique Japanese ivory netsuke depicts Jurojin, the God of Longevity and one of Japan's revered Seven Lucky Gods.

Standing approximately 5 cm high, Jurojin is shown holding his characteristic staff and sacred scroll, symbols of wisdom and long life. Beautifully carved with a warm aged patina, this miniature sculpture is signed by the artist and displays the exceptional attention to detail for which antique Japanese netsuke are celebrated.

Originally worn as practical toggles with the traditional kimono, netsuke evolved into highly collectible miniature works of art. Figures of Jurojin remain particularly sought after, admired not only for their craftsmanship but also for the symbolism of health, wisdom and longevity they represent.
