This antique Japanese sake bottle, or Kayoi Tokkuri, dates from the late Edo to early Meiji period (mid-19th century) and is a fine example of utilitarian ceramic ware with rustic charm and cultural significance. Crafted from dark, earthen clay with a rich glaze, it features bold hand-painted kanji characters often associated with liquor or sake. Standing at 22cm tall, this vessel was traditionally used for transporting and storing sake, often exchanged between brewers and clients. The surface shows beautiful age-related wear and patina, adding to its authenticity and appeal.
