Product Description

This elegant antique French blue opaline glass vase, attributed to the Baccarat glassworks, dates to the late 19th to early 20th century. Of slender baluster form rising to a gently flared rim, the vase is finished in true satin opaline glass and delicately decorated with gilt enamel, including a classical key fret border to the neck above a stippled ground and fine floral motifs to the body. Raised on a sloping circular foot with further stipple adornment, this piece reflects the refined decorative glass produced in France during the fin-de-siècle period, intended as a statement interior object rather than utilitarian ware. Measuring approximately 41 cm in height, it is an impressive and visually striking example of European opaline glass, valued for its colour, scale, and restrained elegance.

Minor wear to the gilt decoration and a small manufacturing flaw to the underside of the foot are present, consistent with age. If you would like more information or images, please contact us prior to purchase.

If This Piece Could Talk
I was shaped in a French glasshouse at the turn of a new century, when elegance was prized and colour spoke softly rather than loudly. My blue opaline skin once caught candlelight in a grand interior, gilded details shimmering as conversations drifted through the room. I was made not to be hurried, but to be noticed, admired, and remembered. More than a vessel, I was created to hold atmosphere, beauty, and time itself.
