This extremely rare Art Nouveau Royal Doulton cup and saucer features the waratah flower designed by Lulu Short, daughter of John Shorter who was the Australian importer and distributor of Royal Doulton for almost one hundred years from the late 1800s to 1979.
Shorter's designed many products for the Australian market and the Art Nouveau design depicits the waratah which is the state floral emblem of NSW.
It was exhibited by the Sydney Technological Museum at the Panama Pacific Internation Exposition in San Francscio 1915 as part of its exhibit on Australian flora in applied arts.
A piece of Royal Doulton and Australian history for collectors.
