Bronzes

Once an exceptional popular material used by artisans and artists for making sculptures, bronze is an especially beautiful metal. A great choice for sculptors thanks to its impressive strength as well as for the level of detail that it allows the artist to capture, bronze remains a top choice among collectors of vintage and antique items thanks to its timeless good looks.

To cast a bronze sculpture, the artist must first make a mould of the shape they wish to create before filling it up with liquid bronze. Once it has cooled and hardened, the mould will be removed, leaving a beautiful sculpture behind.

Thanks to the unique properties of this metal alloy, bronze can display an impressive level of detail since it expands during the cooling process, filling up even the tiniest lines within the mould. The most expertly-crafted bronze sculptures have lifelike details and due to their strength, they continue to retain their beauty for many years.

We have a wide variety of bronze pieces in our collection here at Marple Antiques & Collectables. Whether you’re looking for a small piece of art or something large to make a dramatic statement, we have pieces by artists such as Alfred Louis Barye, MEDNAT, Louis Barthelemy, Salvatore March, and Paul Eduoard Delabrierre as well as by unknown artists. We have cultures from many time periods and cultures that have survived intact and look just as beautiful today as on the day they were cast.
